The incident happened around 3 a.m. at 1086 Alco St., according to Atlanta police. Officer Robney Smither was investigating a wreck at the location when he saw a silver Volkswagen back into a parked green pickup truck, police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon said. The officer walked over to the driver and asked him if he had hit the parked vehicle. “The suspect denied striking the vehicle and as Officer Smither stepped in front of the suspect's vehicle to direct him into a parking lot, the driver sped off striking the officer,” Sgt.
